The Terminologia de IATE en català ("Terminology of IATE in Catalan") is a work-in-progress tool produced by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia) and the TERMCAT Terminology Centre with the purpose of making available in Catalan (consultation and download) the terminology that is currently present in the IATE terminology database in the 24 official languages of the European Union.
This dictionary contains a total of 16,417 entries, corresponding to different subject fields of the IATE database.
This work includes 3292 records corresponding to the field of law, 478 records from the economics field, 3829 from the health field, 632 from the European Union field and 8.000 from different subject fields of the IATE database.
Each terminological record includes the designation in Catalan together with its equivalents in Spanish, English and French, and the IATE code of the entry. It also includes the reference source, definition and grammatical category of the Catalan designations when available.
Since the dictionary contains the Catalan designations that correspond to the entries in English and Spanish from the IATE terminology database of the European Union, we recommend you read the introduction of this work to know what you can find in it and what value you should ascribe to the designations collected in each terminological record.
Clicking on "Consulta de termes" (‘Term search’), terms can be looked up in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language), using the thematic access or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" (‘Text search’) in any of the dictionary languages.
